- Dec 109:00 AMProvidence Writing RetreatDo you need some late-semester accountability to work on a term paper, dissertation chapter, or perhaps even make a plan for using your winter break effectively? Join us for a four-hour jam session where you can bring any writing project and come work in a space with like-minded students! Coffee, tea, and light continental breakfast fare will be provided. No registration is required. If you have any questions while you are writing, a GWPL tutor will be available to chat with you about anything that comes up. Please note: the area around RINEC in Providence has street parking, and there are no commuter lots for URI students. Additionally, you may also need to check in at the front desk to let them know you are at RINEC to attend a writing retreat. REGISTER HERE

Attendees will become aware of established norms and ethical principles for responsible scholarly conduct. Attendees will learn how to apply the principles and norms to their own work and conduct their research with integrity. This session will be taught and facilitated by experts on each particular seminar topic. From January 22 to April 30, participants will attend weekly evening Zoom classes, complete practical assignments, and apply concepts through a guided landscape observation and analysis project. Lawrence Nature Lab at RISD, in collaboration with the RI Network for Excellence in Science and Technology (RI-NEST) presents, The 2026 VIS-A-THON. The program provides opportunities for participants to collaboratively experiment with new and innovative ways to create and use visual imagery and language. Projects are completed over a two-day period called The Vis-a-thon Weekend. During this time, participants work directly with RISD faculty, facilitators and graduate students to develop and enact their proposals.This program is open to faculty and graduate student researchers from RI-NEST partner organizations, including the University of Rhode Island (URI), the Narragansett Indian Tribe, Brown University, Rhode Island College, Community College of Rhode Island, and Roger Williams University.
