From Uggs to apple cider: My love letter to fall

I don’t know about all of you, but I have been waiting for summer to be over.

Don’t get me wrong, summer definitely has its fun moments, but after months of sweating, sunburns and miserable heat, I am practically jumping for joy that fall is here. There’s something about this time of year that feels new. The temperatures begin to cool down, the leaves start to change colors and there seems to be magic in the air. Fall has always been my favorite season.

As a kid, I made quite a few trips to New York City around this time of year to see the Rockettes. I remember wearing my jacket and Uggs as we walked around the busy city;  the leaves were changing colors, and the holiday season was clearly approaching.

The energy of the city, the lights going up and anticipation for the holiday made it a special trip, and whether it was my birthday or the holidays, fall solidified its place as my favorite season. I always have very good memories looking back on earlier falls.

Now, as a college student, I am very excited for fall. There’s something comforting about settling into the semester for cooler weather and knowing that hoodie season is coming soon.

There is nothing better than walking around with a drink in hand, bundled up and cozy. Speaking of drinks, fall flavors coming back are giving me strength with all my assignments.

Pumpkin spice lattes are a fall classic, and I am fully on board with them taking over all coffee shops. There’s a reason they are so popular. The spicy but sweet flavor tastes exactly like fall. I love apple cider and hot chocolate. Anything warm and seasonal, I am there. Another thing I absolutely love about fall is all the activities you can do. Apple picking has always been a favorite thing I used to do with my family growing up. Being from Connecticut, I used to apple-pick all the time in Lyme Orchards. Spending a sunny, chilly evening with your family stuffing your bag with freshly picked apples is an ideal evening for me.

What really makes fall my favorite is seeing how everything around me changes.

The leaves turning red and orange make me happy every year. Something about seeing the leaves change energizes me. I could honestly spend hours walking around just looking at the trees. Everything feels calmer in the fall. Fall is a season that feels nostalgic to me but also completely new.

It always brings back good childhood memories while also giving me new opportunities. Whether it’s the festive food, the scary movies or the comfy clothes, fall will always be the season I feel the most like me.
