Rhode Island suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, getting roughed up by its only Football Bowl Subdivision opponent, Western Michigan. Rhode Island held a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to a score from fourth-year running back Antwain Littleton Jr. After that it was all Western Michigan, as the Broncos scored 44 unanswered points on the Rams.

FINAL (9/30): Stony Brook University 2-2 URI

In a back-and-forth matchup, Stony Brook got an early goal to take the lead on URI. It wasn’t until the 69th minute that the Rams responded with a goal of their own from first-year Kyler Vojvodic. In a defensive battle, La Salle was able to pull ahead of URI on a late goal in the 76th minute. The Rams outshot the Explorers 16-6 and had four shots on net to La Salle’s three, but in the end it was La Salle’s first-year forward Kayden Williams who sealed the game.

Golf
University of Connecticut Invitational at GreatHorse (9/28-9/30): Third out of 15 teams
URI had a harsh start to the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse on Sunday, starting out in 12th place, but was able to have a strong bounce back on Monday and Tuesday to finish in a tie for third place.
The Rams had a shaky start in the opening round, as all five of Rhode Island’s golfers were at least four-over par. On Monday, the Rams got off to a hot start, going five-under on their first six holes. The Rams carried this momentum over into Tuesday, where they finished 11-under as a team to finish strong.
