- Sep 1212:00 PMFaculty-led J-term Info Session: Physical Activity as TherapyThis program will introduce students to a variety of sports/physical activities and teach them to analyze personal physical activity information collected using technological devices, such as heart rate monitors and pedometers. Students will learn exercise physiology and pedagogy applications and education pedagogy on how to use these devices in a school setting. They will also complete a surf therapy portion, teaching children with disabilities and wounded warriors how to surf.No surfing experience is necessary, but students should be comfortable in the water and with basic swimming skills. Students should be prepared to participate in rigorous hikes and other forms of physical activity.Students will earn 3 credits in EDC 407.This course is open to undergraduate and graduate students. Please note that the tuition is based on the per-credit course fee for January courses. - Sep 123:30 PMCrime Friday: James Clift, Warwick Police BCIURI's Forensic Science Partnership lecture series is one of the more unique lecture series in Rhode Island. The Sept. 12 topic is “All in a day’s work,” with James Clift, Warwick Police Bureau of Criminal Identification. Clift retired as a detective for the Providence Police, the largest police department in Rhode Island, and is now a criminalist with the Warwick Police Department.All lectures are open to the public at no cost and are held on Fridays at 3:30 p.m. in the Richard E. Beaupre Center for Chemical and Forensic Sciences (Room 100), 140 Flagg Rd., Kingston. Schedule subject to change; join email list for updates.
