- Oct 65:30 PMQueriendo ConexiónAs we continue to celebrate Latinx Heritage Month, the Multicultural Student Services Center welcomes back alumnus Kevin Pajaro, '15.Kevin will be returning to campus for Queriendo Conexión (Wanting Connection): Exploring Masculinity, Vulnerability, and Relationships. Kevin will lead conversations on traditional ideas related to masculinity (assertive, competitive, providers, protectors; anti-feminine; violent; emotionless, etc.). He will lead a dialogue about the unasked-for and often-impossible expectations placed on men, as well as the internalized pain, shame, and frustration that arise from trying to meet those expectations. He will also be discussing how harmful notions of masculinity make it difficult for men to imagine that genuine connections centered on love, care, honesty, accountability, and vulnerability are possible for them. This session is open to all and invites participants to hold intentional space for one another and be in dialogue about manhood. It will also feature guest facilitators Dr. Lazaro Camacho Jr. ('02, ’ 06), who serves as an assistant professor and program coordinator of URI’s College Student Personnel Program; and BOND’s Mental Health and Advocacy co-chair, Andres Henao ('27). This program is in collaboration with Brothers On a New Direction, the Dominican Alliance, the Latin Student Association, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.Visit URInvolved for complete event details.
