Navigating Your Welcome Day
Navigating Your Day
Here at URI, we acknowledge that people have different learning styles, and we created a program that reflects this. Each program offering listed has an icon indicating how its information will be presented. For fairs, meet-and-greet programs, or meals, attendees can spend as much or as little time as they need. Presentations and tours, however, will likely take the whole time block.

Directions and Parking

  • How do I get to URI's Ryan Center?
You can drive to The Ryan Center, located at One Lincoln Almond Plaza, Kingston, RI 02881, and parking will be available. Additionally, you can take the train to the Kingston Amtrak station or ride the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus to campus. If you are flying to Rhode Island, URI is only a 30-minute taxi/rideshare from our T.F. Green Airport. If you are traveling from Long Island, the Cross Sound Ferry terminal in New London is 40 minutes from campus.

  • I’m taking the train to the Kingston Amtrak station. How do I get to campus from there?
The Kingston Amtrak Station, located at 1 Railroad Ave., West Kingston, RI 02892, is just 1.6 miles away from the Ryan Center! The easiest way to get to campus from the Station is to take a taxi or rideshare, like Uber or Lyft.

  • If my family is arriving by train or plane, will there be a place to store a small bag or suitcase (nothing valuable)?
Yes, we can accommodate this request. Families should let us know at check-in at the Ryan Center, and we’ll be happy to assist.

  • Where should I park?
Please plan to park in the Ryan Center lot.

Getting Around

  • How do I get around campus?
We are proud of our walkable campus. Use our interactive map as your guide. You should have also received a paper program with a printed map when you checked in. Buses are also available for on-campus transportation.

  • Accessibility Accommodations:
Visit the event information table located on the Ryan Center arena floor to discuss event support and accommodations you may need for the day including mobility assistance.

  • Shuttle Buses:
Explore campus while you stay on schedule. Shuttle buses will run from 9:45 a.m.–3:15 p.m. ALL BUSES STOP AT EVERY STOP. Student guides will ride along and answer any questions you may have. The shuttle buses follow a different route than our walking campus tours, so try both!

  • Navigating to Peckham Farm or Independence Square:
A bus will travel from the Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences (Bus Stop 4) to Peckham Farm during Block 3 (11:30 a.m. –12:25 p.m.)
