- Apr 122:00 PMURI Water Polo ClinicsWelcome to the URI Water Polo Clinic, where we offer a comprehensive and structured learning experience for all skill levels. Led by experienced coaches, including current and former players with a deep understanding of the game, our clinic is designed to develop each athlete’s abilities in a progressive, supportive environment. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, our clinic will help you build confidence in the water and grow your love for the sport of water polo! Our Clinic Focuses on Progressive Learning:Introduction to Water Polo Fundamentals: For beginners, we start with the basics: understanding the game’s rules, learning how to tread water, and mastering the basic strokes needed for effective movement. Our coaches break down each step to ensure you’re comfortable in the water and confident in your abilities.Building Core Skills: Once you’re comfortable in the water, we’ll focus on core skills such as passing, shooting, and positioning. Coaches will teach you the proper techniques for each skill, emphasizing how to work as a team, control the ball, and move efficiently.Developing Tactics & Strategy: As athletes progress, we introduce fundamental game strategies such as offensive and defensive positioning, the importance of spacing, and communication in the pool. Our goal is to help each participant develop a deeper understanding of game flow and tactics.Scrimmaging & Game Play: As athletes become more proficient, we move toward scrimmaging. These friendly matches allow you to apply what you’ve learned in a game setting while receiving real-time feedback from our experienced coaches. Scrimmages help improve decision-making, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to live game situations.Advanced Techniques & Competitive Play: For more advanced players, we focus on fine-tuning skills, improving game IQ, and preparing for competitive play. Through focused drills and simulated game situations, athletes learn how to take their performance to the next level. Our coaches, who bring years of experience from competitive water polo, work closely with each athlete to ensure they are progressing at their own pace while receiving personalized attention. No matter your starting point, we are here to help you grow as a water polo player. For more information, updates, and highlights from our clinics, check out OUR LINKTREE and INSTAGRAM!Join us at URI Water Polo Club clinics located at the Tootell Aquatic Center, where we dive deep into learning, progress, and fun in the water!Visit URInvolved for complete event details and to RSVP.
