Physical Oceanography Seminar: Dr. Rick Salmon

Friday, May 16, 2025 2:30–3:30 AM
  • Location
Narragansett Bay Campus, Corless Auditorium (Watkins Laboratory)
  • Description
Title: How to Think About Wave-Mean Theory

Presenter: Dr. Rick Salmon, Scripps Institution of Oceanography

Abstract: The theory of waves interacting with “mean Dlows” is difDicult to learn primarily because it can be done in so many mathematically dissimilar ways. Yet the Dinal results are nearly always the same. This lecture offers an introduction to the theory that emphasizes physics over mathematical method, and applies to any type of Dluid wave.
