URI to confer degrees on more than 3,300 undergraduate and graduate students May 16-18. All ceremonies to be held at Ryan Center
KINGSTON, R.I. – May 14, 2024 – Up to 40,000 people will converge on the Kingston Campus from Friday, May 16, through Sunday, May 18, for three days of Commencement ceremonies at the University of Rhode Island. Family and friends will mark the achievements of more than 3,300 undergraduate and graduate degree candidates.
The University will also confer an honorary degree upon Steven Feinberg, executive director of the Rhode Island Film and Television Office, for his work as a filmmaker, a champion of the arts, and an advocate for Rhode Island. He will be honored at the University’s College of Arts and Sciences ceremony Friday, May 16, at 2 p.m. with an honorary Doctor of Letters.
The University will offer live broadcasts of all ceremonies online.

Special Instructions for media:
Members of the media who are scheduled to cover the ceremonies should be in touch with Dawn Bergantino at URI Communications and Marketing, no later than Thursday, May 15, at 3 p.m.
Members of the media are asked to park across the street from the Ryan Center in the Plains Road lot (Lot 25 on the Kingston Campus map). They will be required to enter the facility at the loading dock door, which is on the west side of the building near the soccer field and practice football fields. It is a green door with a Ram logo on it.
Upon entry, they will be asked to produce a media credential or a business card and a photo ID. A member of the communications staff will meet them at the door, have them sign in, escort them to the media room, their seats or an appropriate camera location. Each media member will be provided with a commencement media pass.
