Bryant Black & Gold Invitational (3/28)

In the ‘Lone Star State’ on Thursday, March 27, fourth-year Ryan Tona was the lone Ram to compete in the Texas Relays Decathlon. Tona set numerous personal bests throughout the two days of competition despite treacherous weather conditions and a lightning delay. Tona finished with 7,189 points, which sits in first place in the record books for the most points ever scored in a decathlon by a Ram. The previous record was set by current head coach Trent Baltzell in 2013. The rest of the team competed as a full squad for the first time this outdoor season at the Black & Gold Invitational, where fifth-year Alexander Baez won the hammer throw with a toss of 58.23 meters.
