A stunning, new translation of Euripides' play by a poet and classicist Anne Carson. Carson writes, "Euripides was a playwright of the fifth century BC who reinvented Greek tragedy, setting it on a path that leads straight to reality TV. His plays broke all the rules, upended convention and outraged conservative critics. Bakkhai is his most subversive play, telling the story of a man who cannot admit he would rather live in the skin of a woman, and a god who seems to combine all sexualities into a single ruinous demand for adoration."

We offer a 2 hour workshop to train on basic issues affecting the LGBTQ community and how to be an ally. This is an Intro Safe Zone Session that will increase awareness, knowledge, and support of LGBTQ people and issues, build a visible support network of LGBTQ Allies on URI’s campus, and improve the campus climate for LGBTQ people at URI.
