FINAL (3/21): University of Rhode Island 8-2 George Washington University

FINAL (3/22): George Washington 8-7 URI

FINAL (3/23): George Washington 10-9 URI

FINAL (3/25): Quinnipiac University 9-8 URI

With their win on Friday, the Rams extended their winning streak to nine games, however it would be snapped the next day. URI was holding a 7-6 lead going into the ninth, but second-year closer Joe Sabbath gave up two runs, and George Washington held onto its one-run lead to win the game. Rhody ended up in a similar situation on Sunday, with a 9-6 lead going into the ninth. Third-year relief pitcher Connor Johnston got into a bases-loaded jam, and Sabbath came in to try and limit the damage, but couldn’t escape the inning, allowing the Revolutionaries to take the lead in the ninth again. Softball

FINAL (3/22): University of Dayton 9-5 URI

FINAL (3/22): URI 2-1 Dayton

FINAL (3/23): Dayton 8-1 URI

FINAL (3/25): Providence College 10-1 URI (5 inn)

FINAL (3/25): URI 5-4 Providence

After splitting their doubleheader against Dayton on Saturday, Rhody would drop the series finale. URI went down 1-0 after the top of the first on Sunday, then scored a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 1-1. However, that would be its only run, as the Rams got shutout for the rest of the game. The Rams would quickly shift gears to an in-state matchup against the Friars on Tuesday. After getting mercied in the first game of the doubleheader, URI jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first of game two. Women’s Tennis

FINAL (3/22): URI 4-0 George Washington

FINAL (3/23): URI 4-0 George Mason University

After going 3-0 on their road trip to Louisiana, the tennis team picked up right where they left off, going 2-0 to open Atlantic 10 Conference play. The Rams are on a five-match winning streak, while not losing a single set since March 12. For more information about the red-hot Rams, read Abby LePage’s article.

Golf

Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate (3/24-3/25): Third of 13 teams

Rhode Island finished third out of the 13 teams that competed in the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate this week. First-year Tyler Bruneau shot two-under and was the top finisher for Rhody, coming in fifth out of the 86 individuals that competed. Women’s Track & Field

Black & Gold Invitational (3/21-3/22)

URI opened its outdoor season with 10 athletes competing across 12 different events. Fifth-year captain Megan Wood was the top performer for the Rams, placing top 10 in the discus, shot put and hammer throw. Second-year Alyssa Yankee also had a top-10 discus finish, coming in eighth. Women’s Lacrosse

FINAL (3/22): Davidson College 18-7 URI

FINAL (3/26): URI 17-12 George Washington

The Wildcats jumped out to a 7-3 lead over Rhody after the first quarter on Saturday and were in complete control of the match from there. URI scored only one goal in the second half, however it came out strong in its victory on Wednesday. The Rams had a 10-8 lead at the half and pulled away in the second half, outscoring George Washington 7-4, to pick up their first A-10 win in program history. For more, read Emma Roberts’ article.
