Student-run RhodyTHON raises close to $58,000 in support of Hasbro Children’s Hospital
KINGSTON, R.I. – April 9, 2025 – RhodyTHON, URI’s annual charity dance marathon— this year with a rodeo-theme— had eight “Miracle Kids” from Hasbro Children’s Hospital wishing the day would never end. From line dancing to dodgeball tournaments, there was endless fun for URI students and their young visitors.

This year’s RhodyTHON welcomed eight children who are current or recent patients at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and their families, which helped set the tone for a fun and uplifting event. The event showcased the spirit and enthusiasm of the young patients, often putting them in new and different roles—giving them the opportunity to be involved in guided meditation, Zumba classes, pickleball and more. Exposing the Miracle Kids to activities they don’t get to have on a daily basis provided an exciting and memorable experience while giving them the chance to make lasting connections with URI students.
With the support and participation of hundreds of URI students, nearly $58,000 was raised for the Children’s Miracle Network and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. It brought RhodyTHON’s eight-year fundraising total to more than $750,000.
RhodyTHON would not be possible without the help of its executive board led by Isabella Leggett. Advisors, directors and 25 chair members help this event run smoothly.
Amid the nonstop celebration, RhodyTHON executive board members performed a variety of choreographed dances at the top of every hour, with some of the Miracle Kids joining in and dancing to their heart’s content.
Almost every chapter in Greek life as well as BOND, pre-med, and pre-law chapters came out to ensure the kids had a great day. Playing games like volleyball, pickleball and spikeball put a huge smile on children’s faces.
“It’s a place where students get to enjoy themselves and have fun while also supporting a really important cause,” said Leggett. “It’s special that they have the opportunity to impact these children’s health and help in such an outstanding way.”
