- Mar 215:00 PMMusicians Guild Big Nice Band BattleJoin Musicians Guild for our 2nd annual Big Nice Band Battle! This battle-of-the-bands event features 10 student bands who are competing for the grand prize of a free day of studio time at Big Nice Studio in Lincoln, RI! This winners of this competition will be chosen through a mix of judges from Big Nice Studio as well as the audience. This event will take place in the Rams Den on March 21st, 2025 from 5:00pm-9:00pm and is free for all members of the public. Interested in signing up your band? Register using this google form here, sign-ups will close when either 10 bands have registered or on Thursday, March 6th at 8:00pm: *SIGN-UP FORM WILL RELEASE 2/27 AT 8:30PM AND WILL BE UPDATED HERE, BE SURE TO ATTEND THE MEETING ON THURSDAY 2/27 AT 8:00PM IN ROOM 124 OF THE MEMORIAL UNION TO ENSURE YOUR BAND CAN SIGN UP BEFORE IT IS FULL* Sign-ups are free!For bands/performers:Your band will play a 2-3 song set (depending on number of sign-ups) with at least ONE song being an original that your band has madeMusicians Guild will backline:Drum kit and hardware; your drummer will need to bring their own snare drum, cymbals, hi-hat clutch, kick pedal, and sticks.Bass/Keyboard amp; we have a Peavey KB/A for bass and keyboard players to useVocals; we have all the microphones you'll needAmp microphones; we have two amp microphones for guitar amps which is great for those without super loud/powerful ampsIf you have any further questions feel free to email musiciansguild@rhodysenate.org. Led by experienced coaches, including current and former players with a deep understanding of the game, our clinic is designed to develop each athlete’s abilities in a progressive, supportive environment. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, our clinic will help you build confidence in the water and grow your love for the sport of water polo!Our Clinic Focuses on Progressive Learning:Introduction to Water Polo Fundamentals: For beginners, we start with the basics: understanding the game’s rules, learning how to tread water, and mastering the basic strokes needed for effective movement. Our coaches break down each step to ensure you’re comfortable in the water and confident in your abilities.Building Core Skills: Once you’re comfortable in the water, we’ll focus on core skills such as passing, shooting, and positioning. Coaches will teach you the proper techniques for each skill, emphasizing how to work as a team, control the ball, and move efficiently.Developing Tactics & Strategy: As athletes progress, we introduce fundamental game strategies such as offensive and defensive positioning, the importance of spacing, and communication in the pool. Our goal is to help each participant develop a deeper understanding of game flow and tactics.Scrimmaging & Game Play: As athletes become more proficient, we move toward scrimmaging. These friendly matches allow you to apply what you’ve learned in a game setting while receiving real-time feedback from our experienced coaches. Scrimmages help improve decision-making, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to live game situations.Advanced Techniques & Competitive Play: For more advanced players, we focus on fine-tuning skills, improving game IQ, and preparing for competitive play.
