The Department of Biological Sciences (BIO) strives to be a recognized intellectual community of students, educators, and researchers characterized by synergies and integrative approaches in biological sciences with an emphasis on Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology in marine and terrestrial systems. We use cutting-edge investigative, bioinformatic, and experimental methodologies in the lab and the field, at scales ranging from molecules to ecosystems. We effectively communicate science emerging from our laboratories and field studies that will serve diverse audiences within the University, in our local community, and around the world.
