Women’s Basketball
Final (2/15): University of Rhode Island 77-54 La Salle University
Final (2/19): URI 70-65 Saint Joseph’s University
On Saturday, the Rams hosted the Explorers for their annual Play4Kay game, as well as senior day. The two teams were separated by six points going into halftime, but Rhody scored a season-high 33 points in the third quarter to extend their lead, and they never looked back, winning 77-54. Men’s Basketball
Final (2/15): URI 86-71 La Salle
In the second game of a Ryan Center doubleheader, the Rams hosted the Explorers on Saturday and came out victorious 86-71. Fourth-year guard Sebastian Thomas dropped 11 points and a career-high 11 assists, which tied the Ryan Center record for most assists in a game. For more, visit David Okula’s recap.
Baseball
Final (2/14): URI 10-9 College of William & Mary

Final (2/16): URI 36-22 William & Mary (7 inn.)
In the first game of a doubleheader on Friday, Rhody cranked out 17 hits, including a three-run homer from second-year infielder Scott Penney, the first of his career. In the second game, the Tribe took advantage of the Rams leaving the bases loaded, and drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth. On Sunday, the Rams and the Tribe combined for the fourth-most runs in a college baseball game in NCAA history. First-year Adonis Medina homered twice in the fifth inning as the Rams dropped 17 runs in the inning. For more, visit Charlie Adams’ recap.
Women’s Lacrosse
Final (2/17): URI 11-10 Merrimack College
Final (2/19): URI 18-1 Central Connecticut State University
The Rams came back from a four-goal deficit in their inaugural Division I match to secure the first win in program history. Second-year Caralie Basuel scored the first goal in program history less than three minutes into the game, but she didn’t stop there as she led the team with seven goals. On Wednesday, second-year Brinley Myers opened up the scoring for the Rams, scoring an unassisted goal just 22 seconds into the match and finished with four goals in an 18-1 win. David Hemery Valentine Invitational (2/14)
Yale Giegengack Invitational (2/15)
The Rams traveled to Boston to compete in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational where second-year Alex Argobast finished first in the 200-meter with a time of 21.49 seconds. The team then went to New Haven, Connecticut to compete in the Yale Giegengack Invitational on Saturday. Rhody claimed each of the top two spots in the pole vault, with fourth-year Mason Brubaker and second-year Nathan Park both clearing 4.85 meters. Second-year Rowan McConkey jumped his way onto the podium as he placed second in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.95 meters. For more, visit Justin Theriault’s recap.
Women’s Indoor Track and Field
David Hemery Invitational (2/15)
URI went to Boston to compete in the David Hemery Invitational on Saturday. Fifth-year Megan Wood placed second in the weight throw, throwing a distance of 18 meters. Third-year Odette van Wyk placed third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.70 seconds. First-year Lily MacDonald placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 11.91 meters. Women’s Tennis
Final (2/15): New Jersey Institute of Technology 4-1 URI
Final (2/16): URI 4-0 Hofstra University
The Rams suffered their first loss of the season as NJIT beat the Rams 4-1 on Saturday. First-year Grace Darcy won her singles match in straight sets for the Rams’ lone point. Rhody then traveled to Hofstra, where they swept Hofstra 4-0 on Sunday. Darcy and fellow first-year Anastasia Peterson got their team-leading eighth doubles win, as they won 6-2.
