Rhody took down their Atlantic 10 Conference opponent in four sets at Keaney Gymnasium on Friday night. The team tallied a .212 hitting percentage throughout the night, with first-year middle blocker Hayvn Rolle leading the team with 16 kills. URI’s three set wins were all within four points, as GWU came back from behind in the first and fourth sets to tie the match down the stretch. The following day on their senior day, Rhody held minimal leads, with the third set being the only one where they led in double digits. Men’s Basketball
FINAL (11/8): URI 91-77 College of the Holy Cross
FINAL (11/12): URI 105-73 Franklin Pierce University
The Rams improved to 2-0 on the season in Friday night’s matchup with Crusaders. The first half was evenly balanced, with a 44-40 lead for Holy Cross at halftime. Fourth-year forward David Green had 12 points in the half. The Crusaders got out to a good second half start, as they went up 13 points on the Rams. The turning point for the Rams came in the middle of the half, as they went on a 28-3 run, which propelled them to the win. Tuesday night’s tipoff against NCAA Division II opponent FPU ended in a 32-point win at the Ryan Center. The Rams and Ravens kept things close in the first half, with Rhody leading by seven at halftime. However, the Rams broke out in the second half, outscoring FPU 50-25. Women’s Basketball
FINAL (11/8): University at Albany 67-57 URI
FINAL (11/10): URI 76-51 Le Moyne College
FINAL (11/13): University of Maine 57-53 URI
Rhody’s first road game of the year was a loss in Albany, New York on Friday night. Following a 5-0 URI run in the first quarter that made it a two-point game, the Great Danes had a last-second three pointer to lead by five. URI shot 5-17 field goals in the first quarter. An 8-0 run late in the second quarter by UAlbany ultimately led to them leading by 10 at halftime. Third-year Anaelle Dutat led URI in points with 13, and had two crucial buckets to begin the second half. Despite this, Rhody only got within seven points in the half, going 3-20 from beyond the arc throughout the contest. Sunday afternoon’s matchup with Le Moyne was a different story, as the Rams ran out to a 19-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Dutat once again led the Rams in points with 13. URI’s biggest lead of the night was by 27 points in the third quarter. The Dolphins led in points in the final quarter, 17-15, but still trailed by double-digits all throughout the half. URI’s A, B and C bow names finished in alphabetical order on Sunday at the Charles River. Brown University finished first overall. In the Novice race, URI was second of three teams. Football
FINAL (11/9): University of Delaware 24-21 URI
Rhody traveled to Newark, Delaware on Saturday seeking their eighth straight win of the season. The majority of the game’s scoring took place in the first quarter, and the Rams came away with a 14-7 lead against their Colonial Athletic Association opponent. The Fightin’ Blue Hens made it a tie game in the second quarter with a 27-yard-touchdown. They scored one more touchdown in the third quarter to lead by double-digits. Despite a late fourth quarter Rhody touchdown by third-year wide receiver Greg Gaines III, the Rams ultimately fell short. Women’s Swim and Dive
FINAL (11/9): University of Connecticut 155-134 URI
URI visited Storrs, Connecticut on Saturday afternoon, falling early against the Huskies. URI lost the first five events. Second-year Julianna Tyler was the team’s leading point contributor with 20, winning two events. Fourth-year Hannah Benavides won the 200-yard breaststroke, while third-year Ella Hacker won the 100-yard butterfly.
