URI got the series win in its final regular season series against the Minutemen as Atlantic 10 Conference opponents. On Wednesday, URI survived a comeback bid from BC after a game-tying bases-clearing triple from second-year Scott Penney forced extra innings, where Rhody secured the win. Softball
Final (3/29): Loyola University Chicago 6-1 URI

Final (4/2): URI 10-8 Bryant University
The Rams were swept by the Ramblers over the weekend in a series where URI struggled to get runners across the plate, as the team scored three total runs over the three-game set. The Rams got their offense rolling against in-state rival Bryant thanks to some early help from second-year Sydney Orndorff, who hit a bases-clearing triple in the first to give them a 4-0 lead that they would never relinquish. Women’s Lacrosse
Final (3/29): University of Richmond 13-8 URI
The Spiders dominated for most of the first half on Saturday, building up an 8-2 lead after the first quarter and a 12-3 lead going into halftime. The Rams attempted to rally from the deficit as they limited Richmond to just one goal in the second half, but the deficit was too large for the Rams to overcome, as they fell 13-8.
Women’s Rowing
Doc Hosea Invitational (3/29)
The rowing team competed in its first event of the spring season on Saturday, where the Varsity 8+ team advanced to the Grand Final. The team beat the Naval Academy by .37 seconds to automatically qualify for the Grand Final, where they finished in fifth place with a time of 6:49.4. For more, read Tyler Powell’s recap.
Women’s Tennis
Final (3/29): URI 4-1 Davidson College
Final (4/1): Bryant 4-3 URI
The Rams split their two-game set this week against Davidson and Bryant. The Rams stayed undefeated in A-10 play and extended their winning streak to six games with their victory over the Wildcats on Saturday, continuing their quest to secure the top spot in the A-10 Tournament on April 24. The Rams dropped their first match since March 2 with a 4-3 loss to Bryant on Tuesday. For more, visit Abby LePage’s recap.

Texas Relays Decathlon (3/26-3/27)
Bryant Black & Gold Invitational (3/28)
In the ‘Lone Star State’ on Thursday, March 27, fourth-year Ryan Tona was the lone Ram to compete in the Texas Relays Decathlon. Tona set numerous personal bests throughout the two days of competition despite treacherous weather conditions and a lightning delay. Tona finished with 7,189 points, which sits in first place in the record books for the most points ever scored in a decathlon by a Ram. The previous record was set by current head coach Trent Baltzell in 2013. The rest of the team competed as a full squad for the first time this outdoor season at the Black & Gold Invitational, where fifth-year Alexander Baez won the hammer throw with a toss of 58.23 meters. Raleigh Relays (3/27-3/29)
Bryant Black & Gold Invitational (3/28-3/29)
Third-year Lily Saul and fifth-year Sydney Federico represented the Rams in the Raleigh Relays from Thursday, March 27 to Saturday. Saul set personal bests in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter, while Federico set personal bests in the 200-meter and 400-meter. The rest of the team competed closer to home in the Black & Gold Invitational at Bryant, where they placed sixth out of 16 teams. For more, read Chase Abrams’ recap.
